Metal work on Charlie’s ‘Cuda comes to a completion

Charlie’s 1972 ‘Cuda started with a solid foundation, this was not a car that needed a full restoration. The sub frames were solid, the floors were all solid. But as luck would have it, rust has a way of showing its ugly face where you weren’t expecting it. Some places were obvious, some were not. The front end had been knocked well out of square by 3/4” at some point in it’s life too. The radiator support had to be pulled and pushed quite a bit to get all the nose sheet metal lining back up correctly. Rust also took its toll on the outside of the body. We ended up patching a good bit of the car’s body including:

  • Both quarter panels in front of the rear wheels and well as patching behind the rear wheels, new trunk drop panels and made patches for the wheel houses where needed

  • Right quarter panel had quite a few dents as well as the wheel arch was crushed in

  • Both doors were peppered with dings and dents

  • Both fenders had the lower patches done as well as the fender braces

  • Under the rear license plate was rotting out

  • Removed 40+ dents throughout the car

  • Repaired rot holes in many areas around the car including places like the trunk gutters, fender/hood jambs, headlight buckets

  • Custom made weld-in sub frame connectors from .120” wall 1.5”x2.5” tubing

  • Custom cut out the ‘Cuda hood scoops to be functional

We are excited to be taking this killer muscle car into the next phase of it’s build.. the 451 Big Block stroker swap!
